Become a CRMC resident

Anjana Jagalur, MD – Program Director

Dear Future Carrollton Regional Medical Center Resident,

It is my privilege to lead a program deeply rooted in the values of quality, compassion, and integrity, and dedicated to preparing the next generation of physicians to care for and uplift the communities we serve.

As both a board-certified Internist and Nephrologist, and as the Chief Medical Officer of this hospital, I am passionate about fostering an environment where residents are supported, challenged, and inspired to grow—clinically, professionally, and personally. Our residents train in a dynamic urban setting that reflects the rich diversity, complexity, and resilience of the Carrollton community. This broad exposure provides unparalleled opportunities to learn, lead, and make meaningful impact.

At Carrollton Regional Medical Center, our mission extends beyond excellent clinical training. We are committed to developing physicians who understand and respond to the social determinants of health, who engage in community outreach, and who prioritize prevention and health education. Our program emphasizes community leadership and the responsibility we have as physicians to help build a healthier, more informed society.

Residents benefit from close mentorship, a strong academic foundation, hands-on experience with a wide range of pathology, and a supportive culture that values teamwork and professionalism. We believe integrity is not only a core value—it is a standard of conduct that shapes how we treat our patients, our community, and one another.

Whether your goal is primary care, hospital medicine, subspecialty fellowship, or leadership, our program is structured to help you achieve your highest potential. We welcome residents who are compassionate, curious, committed to service, and motivated to grow into confident, capable Internists.

Thank you for considering our program. I look forward to meeting you and supporting your journey to becoming a skilled physician and community leader. Please check out our links below to explore our program in detail.

Warm regards,

Mission & Aims

The mission of the Carrollton Regional Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program is to graduate/ train competent, compassionate, ethical, and skilled physicians who will deliver high-quality care to our diverse urban community and will improve community well-being, become leaders in community-based healthcare, advancing health awareness, promoting disease prevention, and giving back to the community through service and education and build a stronger, healthier society.

As a smaller community-based residency program, the residents will receive comprehensive clinical training with hands-on clinical experience and one-on-one attention from the hospitalist physicians and physicians board certified in a variety of specialties, gaining excellent depth and breadth of knowledge. They will also gain experience in procedures as there is little competition from other specialty programs. This community-based residency program will also provide a well-rounded experience where physicians learn to care for patients in a setting where endless resources are not as available while focusing on a supportive healthy learning environment maintaining good resident well-being and work-life balance.

The program will meet our mission through the following aims:

Develop Community Health Leaders: Cultivate physicians who lead community health initiatives, promote preventive care, and contribute to a healthier society through outreach, health awareness, and public education.

Business Side of Medicine: Prepare Residents by training them with didactics and hands-on experience in understanding various insurance models and financial and business considerations for starting a practice after graduation.

Leadership in Hospital Management: Educate residents in day-to-day operations of the hospital and administration including serving on various hospital committees that emphasize judicious use of hospital resources and promote quality and collaborative patient-centered care.

Risk Management: Teaching residents about adequate, timely, and accurate medical record documentation. Expose the residents to experts in medico-legal concepts through didactics, seminars, and Grand Rounds.
